Two halves of a single whole. Each has only one wing – on its own, it cannot take to the air. Only together can they rise above the ground. The sculpture speaks of harmony, of love that gives strength, and of the fact that true flight is only possible when two people trust one another and move in unison. The sculpture tells of love and closeness that do not take away freedom, but give it meaning.

Karol Dusza (born 1972 in Bytom) is a Polish sculptor who works primarily in wood. He made his debut in 2000 with an exhibition at the Gallery of Artists from Siedlce and Podlasie in the Ogiński Palace in Siedlce.

Karol Dusza’s work is based on symbolism, allegory and expression. In his sculptures, the artist explores themes of human relationships, emotions, love, freedom and transience. Characteristic of his style are slender, elongated forms and the skilful use of the wood’s natural grain, the structure of which becomes an integral part of the composition.

Each sculpture is created as a unique piece, often enhanced with metal elements. The artist strives to bring out the natural beauty of the material, leaving the grain visible and emphasising the individual character of each piece of wood. As a result, his works combine modern form with authenticity and respect for nature.
